Thanks for your interest in Aventuras! We're a small program with very few openings.

We use this application to determine priority for any available spots.

AVENTURAS PROGRAMS

Forest School (starting ages 3-5)
The Forest School school-year program runs from mid August to early-mid June. Please see our website for details. Most of our spots become available in mid-June or late August, and we start to send invitations for June/August in early February. Spots occasionally become available at other times of the year, usually with 60 days notice. Applications to our forest school program require a non-refundable $125 application fee, payable via an invoice that will be emailed to you shortly after you submit your application. Please note that this is application is NOT a commitment to enroll. After you submit your application, we will send you an invitation if we have space for your child(ren). We do recommend that you apply to the wait list early, since date of application is factored in when determining admissions priority.

Summer Camp (starting ages 3-5)
Please see our main Summer Camp page for details about dates and tuition. It is optional for school-year families, and is also available as a standalone summer camp. All of our other usual policies for the forest school program apply to our summer camp program, but there is no application fee for those who are solely interested in summer camp. If you are ONLY interested in summer camp, please complete the interest form on our summer camp page instead of this form.

Parent & Me (ages 2-4)
If your child is younger than three years old, please consider indicating your interest in future Parent & Me classes in the question below to help prepare your child for our Forest School program. The Parent & Me program begins at age two and takes place two weekday afternoons per week, and does not require that children be potty trained. Children who have participated in the Parent & Me program get preferential admissions to our preschool program. If you indicate that you are interested in the Parent & Me program, details will be emailed to you when your child ages into the program. Parent & Me runs in 6-week sessions throughout the school year. Please see here for more information and to register for that program.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

Immunizations
Aventuras requires all children to be fully immunized according to the California Department of Health schedule for child care and preschool, unless the family can provide a doctor's note documenting that the child has a specific medical reason to exempt them from specific vaccinations. Allergies
Our natural setting is not under our control, and should be assumed to be an allergen-rich environment. We can usually accommodate children with known food allergies, in consultation between the family and the Director.

COVID
Masks are currently required in a few cases, for example if a child has been recently directly exposed to COVID, if they are ending COVID isolation after 5 days. We follow the advice of relevant public health authorities.

READINESS CRITERIA

While our minimum starting age for preschool and summer camp is 3, we do have additional criteria to determine whether kids are ready to stay safe and develop the independence they need to thrive at forest school. When they start forest school, children should be potty trained and ready to learn basic safety rules such as staying with the group, climbing with supervision, and playing with sticks safely. They also need to walk up to 15 minutes independently with a small backpack, and be ready to learn to take care of their own belongings with some teacher coaching. We will consult with you at enrollment time whether your child seems ready for forest school, or whether they may benefit from waiting to enroll at a later date.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Target language acquisition is directly proportional to language exposure time. Five-day enrollment is also beneficial for socialization and acclimating your child to school routines. For these reasons, we require five-day enrollment for all Forest School and Summer Camp families.
